Boots the Chemist, founded by John Boot in 1849, is one of Britain's best known high street names. What is less well known is that between around 1900 and 1925 they had their own proprietary line of Sterling Silver tableware and vanity items.

This very attractive Edwardian pierced napkin ring was made for the Boots Pure Drug Company in 1907 in Birmingham. It has a diagonal slot and circle design with a blank cartouche. It's a very well made piece that would look completely at home on a modern dining table or make a good addition to a collection. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The Napkin Ring is 4.5cm in diameter and 2.4cm deep. It weighs 12.5g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, at the bottom of the cartouche, are well struck and clear to read, although the makers' mark is a little rubbed. They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "h" for 1907 and the BD over PC makers' mark for the Boots Pure Drug Company.
