Description

This is a smart cased set of six Mid-Century Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons. The spoons have a slender stem with a pinched waist and Deco style engraving on the upper part. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The coffee spoons are made in Birmingham by William Suckling Ltd and date to 1963. The case is branded for the retailer Crouch of Swansea Ltd. Founded around 1922, William Suckling Ltd were a very successful silversmiths producing a broad range of mostly domestic silverware. They remained in business up until the late 1960s.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the most minimal of superficial surface wear. It seems that the spoons have only had limited use. The box is in good condition with just a small amount of marking to the satin lining in the lid. The hinges and clasps are in full working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each spoon is 10.1cm / 4ins long and the set of six together, unboxed, weighs in at a very respectable 62.4g / 2.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter O for 1963 and the S.Ld makers' mark for William Suckling Ltd.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
