Description

Here we have a very attractive Mid-Century Norwegian Sterling Silver Gilt and Guilloche Enamel Sugar Spoon. The spoon has a triangular bowl and a pierced stem with four diamond shaped panels featuring a pale green guilloche enamel starburst.

The spoon is made in Oslo, Norway by Finn Jensen and dates to the period between 1953 and 1976. Having served his apprenticeship at renowned Oslo silversmiths Jacob Tostrup, Jensen set up in partnership with Knut Aamodt in 1946 before setting up his own firm in 1953. He is well known for his quality guilloche enamel work. Finn Jensen passed away in 1976.

Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents, no significant loss to the gilding and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 50 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The spoon is 9.8cm / 3.8ins long and weighs a respectable 13.7g / 0.48oz of solid silver and enamel.

The underside of the stem has the 925S stamp to show that it is Sterling Silver grade (92.5% pure) and the distinctive F J makers' mark for Finn Jensen.
