Description

This is a top quality Mid-Century Silver Plated Four Piece Tea Set. The set comprises a teapot, hot water jug, cream jug and sugar bowl with the teapot and hot water jug having wooden handles and finials. The pieces are round, of bulbous form and have stepped circular bases.

The set is made by Garrard & Co of London as part of their Regent Plate range and dates to around the 1950s / 1960s. With a history going back to 1722, Garrard & Co is one of Britain's most prestigious silversmiths and jewellers and held the title of Crown Jeweller from 1735 and continuously from 1843 to 2007. In 1952 they acquired The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co and took over the use of their Regent Plate trademark.

Condition of the tea set is very good with no significant plate loss except on the inside base of the teapot where it has been rubbed by many teaspoons over the years. There is also a very small dent to the foot of the sugar bowl. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The teapot is 25.6cm / 10ins from spout to handle, 13cm / 5.1ins across the body and 15cm / 5.9ins to the top of the handle. The hot water jug is 17cm / 6.7ins from spout to handle, 9cm / 3.5ins across the body and 22.5cm / 8.8ins to the top of the finial. The cream jug is 11cm / 4.3ins from spout to handle, 6.5cm / 2.5ins across the body and 12cm / 4.7ins to the top of the handle. The sugar bowl is 14.7cm / 5.8ins from handle to handle, 9.4cm / 3.7ins across the body and 9.8cm / 3.8ins to the top of the handles. All together the set weighs in at 1.31Kg / 46.2oz.
