Description

Here we have a smart pair of George V Sterling Silver Napkin Rings. The napkin rings are capstan shaped with beaded rims and scrolling foliate engraving around the bodies encircling blank cartouches, making these ideal as a gift.

The napkin rings are made in Birmingham by the silversmiths Rolason Brothers and date to 1924. Founded in the 1880s and based in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter, Rolason Brothers produced a wide range of good quality small silver items for personal use. They remained in business up until the late 1920s.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the minimum of superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin rings are each 4.5cm / 1.8ins in diameter and stand 2.9cm / 1.1ins high. The pair together weigh in at 22.8g / 0.8oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks on each ring are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter z for 1924 and the R.Bs makers' mark for Rolason Brothers.
