Description

Here we have a very attractive early 20th century Silver Plated Serving Dish. The dish is split into three sections, one large and two small, and has an all over vine leaf design with a vinestock handle.

This is a versatile dish that may originally have been intended for serving grapes or as a fruit bowl in general. It would work very well for snacks, hors d'oeuvres, canapes, sauces or chips and dips.

There are no marks of any kind on the dish but stylistically it is most probably French in origin. It is a very well made bowl with great detail on the vine leaves and the vine stock handle, which is held securely in place by two screws on the underside of the bowl.

Condition is extremely good with no plate loss whatsoever, suggesting that the serving dish has not seen a great deal of use in its hundred or so years of life. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The dish measures 23.2cm / 9.1ins from front to back, 25.5cm / 10ins across at its widest point and stands 7.5cm / 2.9ins high. It weighs 462g / 16.3oz.
