Description

This is a good quality early 20th century domed Humidor or Cigar Box. The wooden box has a smart interior with a gloss finish to the underside of the lid and the floor and a moisture absorber set into the lid. The exterior is leather bound and has a coat of arms mounted on the lid which also has tooled and gilded decoration. There is a brass handle on either side.

The coat of arms features two quadrants of diagonal stripes. The other two quadrants feature a fleur-de-lys on a burgundy background to the upper right and an armoured hand grasping a sword above the motto Vertute et Valore, which is the crest of the Irish McNamara family.

Condition is good with just a few minor marks to the tan leather and a little bit of loss to the gilding. The humidor comes supplied with its original key and both lock and hinges are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The box is a good size and will hold large cigars. It measures 28cm / 10.6ins wide by 21.3cm / 8.4ins deep and stands 16.5cm / 6.5ins high. It weighs 1.37kg / 48.3oz.

There are no makers' marks but the leather work is in the Italian style and the humidor was probably made in Italy.

Shipping in the UK is £12 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the humidor.
