Description

This is a good quality cased set of six George V Sterling Silver Teaspoons. The spoons are in the Nail Top style, which is a revival of a much earlier medieval style of spoon, although very much a 20th century take on it. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The teaspoons are made in Birmingham by silversmiths William Suckling Ltd and date to 1925. The firm was founded in 1922 and produced a broad range of consistently good quality silverware through until the late 1960s.

Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 100 years of good service. The box is a bit scuffed on the outside but the hinges and clasp are both in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each spoon is 10.4cm / 4.1ins long and the set of six together, unboxed, weighs a respectable 58.8g / 2oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the undersides of the bowls, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter A for 1925 and the S Ld makers' mark for William Suckling Ltd.
