It has a bulbous body with reeded decoration, an hourglass neck and a shaker lid with reeded decoration and a turned finial. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The pepper shaker is made in Birmingham by Jones & Crompton and dates to 1918. They primarily produced a range of silverware for the table and remained in business until at least the mid 1930s.

Condition is good with just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The hallmarks on the side of the body are somewhat rubbed but can still be read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter t for 1918 and the J & C makers' mark for Jones & Crompton. In addition the lid is marked with the lion passant and date letter t.
