Description

A very elegant conical shaped cut glass perfume bottle with a hallmarked silver collar from the 1920s.

The perfume bottle has a diamond shaped hobnail pattern around the base with a very attractive floral pattern around the main part of the body and the stopper again has diamond shaping.

The hallmarked silver collar is mushroom shaped and the hallmarks, which are clear to read, are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the gothic date letter "n" for 1928 and the C & A makers' mark for Collett & Anderson. Although this was assayed in London, Collett & Anderson were Birmingham silversmiths who had premises in Legge Lane. They specialised in dressing table items and were in business from 1927 up to the start of WW2.

The cut glass bottle and stopper are in lovely condition with no chips, cracks or staining and the stopper is a secure fit. The silver collar has a couple of tiny dings around the rim but is otherwise in good condition. The bottle stands 12cm high without the stopper, 16.7cm high with the stopper and has a diameter of 9cm at its widest point. It weighs 410g. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
