Description

A lovely set of 4 Art Nouveau silver plated Oyster Forks made by Reed & Barton in their "Modern Art" pattern, which they launched in 1904. Reed & Barton is one of the best known American manufacturers of silver and silver plate and is particularly famous for their flatware and cutlery. Based in Taunton, Massachusetts they were in business from 1824 to 2015.

These beautiful oyster forks are in the "Modern Art" pattern, a classic Art Nouveau design that was launched as a silver plate range in 1904. It is a very elegant pattern that is becoming increasingly hard to find. Each fork has a lion rampant in a shield stamped at the top of the underside of the stem, presumably the crest of the original owner.

The forks are in very good condition with no dings, dents, splits or plate loss. They are stamped Reed & Barton on the underside of the stem. The forks are each 14.5cm long and the set of 4 weighs 74.4g. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The forks are obviously ideal for eating oysters but would also make excellent buffet forks or are simply a lovely addition to any collection.
