Description

This is a very high quality Mid-Century Sterling Silver D-shaped Napkin Ring with a Celtic style design around both rims. The Napkin Ring is made in Sheffield in a heavy gauge of silver by famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and dates to 1953. The Celtic decoration on the rims is exquisitely done and the detail is very crisp. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind on the Napkin Ring. The hallmarks, on one side, are well struck and clear to read.

Condition is very good with just a couple of miniscule dings on the base, which would face down to the table in use and do not detract from this stunning piece at all. Other than there is just the most minimal amount of wear commensurate with occasional use.

The Napkin Ring is 6cm long, 3.2cm high and 2.7cm wide. It weighs a very substantial 38.9g and has a lovely chunky feel in the hand.

The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter "L" for 1953 and the W&H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
