Description

A sensitive and fully restored early 19th century pedestal Chess Table. An octagonal top, inlaid with a chequer board of rosewood and birdseye maple. The restoration is always sympathetic to the history of a piece and this is no exception, there were no faults to the structure, the table required reviving and re-polishing without killing the patina, all of which has been completed to the highest standard and ready to give another couple of hundred years service and pleasure. This dates to the early 19th century (circa 1830). It sits perfectly on four bun feet, a shaped splat base board with a beautifully shaped and turned pedestal. The octagonal top has a plain frieze under and a substantial cross brace seating the top to the pedestal. It is a lovely table and a good period example, but most important it is straight and true.

Size: Overall height is 74 cm and overall width is 42 cm. The inlaid board is 28 cm square.
