Description

This original framed and glazed impressionist watercolour is of the Barle Valley in the Exmoor Country Park, Kevin Hughes has captured the essence of the water and tress of this special area of the Historical English countryside. It is an accomplished work that has the presence to draw the viewer into and reflects the nature of the landscape that is probably one of the few tranquil locations left. It is signed bottom left of the picture and undated but we believe the subject etc. places the work at the tail end of the 20th century and into the 21st.

Artist Information,
Kevin Hughes was born in 1947, studied at Reading University and then worked for several years in London illustrating articles and books. For the last twenty five years he has concentrated on his painting and in 2000 was elected to membership of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. – his work is dominated by watercolours of landscapes, buildings and interiors although occasionally he also works in pastel and oils. During his career Hughes has won many prizes not least the Rowland Hilder Award at the 2007 Royal Institute Exhibition.

It is a good size picture and framed well, including a double stepped mount. the condition is excellent, no sun /light damage and no discolouration.
