Antique Victorian Pedestal Desk by Gillows Of Lancaster Aesthetic Movement c1890

Fabulous antique Aesthetic Movement pedestal captains desk made & stamped by the world recognised cabinet maker Gillows of Lancaster & London.

Manufactured of solid oak with thick veneered flame grain pitch pine drawer fronts and a fabulous hand applied painted banding & decoration.

Ebonised edge moulding & box banding.

Double pedestal desk so the top is removable for easy transportation. Just simply slots on and off with no tool required.

Each pedestal has three good sized large storage drawers.
There are three further storage drawers in the top section so nine drawers in total across the entire unit.
The desk has all nine matching original solid brass Gothic Revival drop handles.
All drawers open & close as intended and have been made with dovetail joint construction and fitted with unusual pitch flamed pine veneers.

They style is directly influenced by Aesthetic Movement period of the late 19th century.

Overall an exceptional piece of furniture by a well respected maker in good display and usable solid condition with that sort after antique charm.
