This matching pair of impressive gilt bronze Gothic revival “pricket candle sticks”. The turned, pierced dome bases are supported by three recumbent Medici lions, which perfectly define the Medieval and Gothic periods in design and appeal. While the tapering columns support a crenelated and pierced bowl with a pointed ‘pricket’ spike, used to secure a pillar candle as illustrated. Perfectly suited to any collection of Gothic, Medieval or religious material, their impressive scale and classic design speaks to the quality craftsmanship of period of their production in the late 19th to early 20th century. Although ecclesiastical in look and feel, their quality, detail and classic appeal suit any number of design applications.
