Description

A recent find on our travels, we have a rather fetching 1930s English oak compactum/wardrobe with a super fitted interior and with the benefit of splitting into 4 for easier placing. This one is a nice usable piece having come from a country estate – so expect genuine careful day to day use but nothing nasty.

With its “Alwyn” label to the inside of the door we have a moulded cornice over the pair of opposing double panel doors with applied moulded ball beaded detail, opening to reveal full length hanging space with slide out system, split upper shelf and lower shoe racks, framed mirror, chrome sided deep slender shelf under mirror, three slide out drawers in oak of various depths, the lower one with “tray” and a decent run of eight trouser rails, 3 open shelves one of these split equally in two and finally a compartment for either wellies or briefcase storage over a deep oak plinth. The doors are held open in place by the large wing nuts whilst using the interior and to close you loosen them. The piece possesses its original working key and brass plated hardware to the outside and sits in fine order.

We have ensured that the piece is ready to use, having cleaned the interior and also lightly waxed the outside. We do have a little wear to the top of the top plinth but you do not see it! As mentioned this one does split into four making it a little easier to manage for moving. Please check if going up the stairs etc!

A rather handsome piece of British bedroom furniture C1930 which would work well in a home or commercial space.
