Description

Magnificent Louis XVI style bed with flame mahogany panels and mahogany and fruit wood construction. Made in Paris c1880. Very attractive and unusual diagonal detail foot pots. Top quality gilded bronze ormalu with flaming torch detail to head and applied ormalu ribbon details in head and foot with cross banding on top of foot board. The overall width is 151 cm so king size base and mattress 150cm x 200 cm (as used for photograph) could be used. The distance across the side rails themselves is 144cm and inside the side rails is 137cm x 200 cm so a double mattress at this size could be used internally. This is a truly spectacular quality bed the like of which is getting harder to find.

We do have many beds awaiting restoration if you are looking for a particular style and can send images if requested. We have our own workshops located along side our showroom in a beautiful medieval barn seven miles south of Bristol.
