Lovely example of the skills of the Blackforest woodcarvers.
The elegant jewellery box of oval lidded shape has a birds nest with 2 birds carved on the top.The whole box is carved from limewood. The inside is lined with the original watered silk with minor rubbing.Photographs show a wing tip missing off the bird on the left & a reglued tail for the same bird.
Typical minor problems comensurate with age. Lock is there but not working.
Carvers intials can be found underneath & we believe they read snl. A wonderful item.
