Retirement Sale, sale price £35.00Late 19th Century Lacquered Box.
This Japanese box is lacquered in black with gilded decoration of cranes & butterflies. The top panel is nicely shaped. The original hook & pin clasps on the lid are intact as is the brass key escutcheon although the key is missing. The interior retains the original blue lining which has age related marks.
Originally made as a jewellery box but it can also be used as a sewing box.
Condition as described above & with some rubbing to the lacquer as can be expected from an item which has been in use.
