Here we have for sale this iconic hand painted ‘Autumn Crocus’ Art Deco Clarice Cliff dinner plate fully stamped to the base. This Clarice Cliff ‘Crocus’ design is so important that it is featured Victoria and Albert Museum collection, London. The Crocus pattern was Clarice Cliff’s signature design. This is the later gold stamped example.

Condition Report

A good example of a Crocus pattern Clarice Cliff Plate: the usual age related wear often seen in plates of this age, there are areas where the paint has rubbed off this particularly evident in the centre of the plate where there is evidence of heavy use and small areas of paint loss around the side, however, no evidence of chips, cracks or crazing, a lovely, sound example indeed. Please check the photos carefully as this forms part of the condition report.

Due to the fact that the pieces are hand painted the colour application is not identical across the crocus range and thus there are inconsistencies as a the plates were painted by a range of paintresses in the factory.
