Decorative Indian Silver Lidded Bowl

Description

This is a beautifully handmade silver covered bowl originating from Asia and most probably Indian. This has been hand raised with hammers and chased using punches to create an intricately designed is foliate pattern around the lid that is topped with an engraved peacock finial. The bowl and lid are created from fluted silver and fit together very securely. The foliate pattern is repeated around the base. This piece as with many antique silver from India is not marked but tests as silver. It weighs 290 grams, is 12 cm high and 10 in diameter. we date this piece to 1900-1920.
