Antique Davenports
An Antique Davenport is a great, compact writing desk for your modern day living room office or study. Named after a Captain Davenport the desk emerged in the early 1800s. The earlier versions from the Regency period took more of a solid form with a set of drawers taking up all the space below the sloping writing top that lifts to reveal a storage space. Over time the drawers were shortened and opened to the side rather than the front to give space for the writers knees. For an awesome home office where space is tight an Antique Davenport is a great solution.
