Description

A 17th Century Oak And Inlaid Caquetoire Chair.

Most definitely a ladies chair with a splayed seat and U shaped arms to accomodate the layers of skirts worn in the 17th century.

This example which is a rare survivour has a scroll inlaid top rail and the sides with a single flower .

Good natural patina and colour.

Another one which has has a hard life the back panel has two splits that has been braced at the back and both rails to the side of the seat are 18th century replacements and there is a natural movement to the chair but it is stable for sitting.
