Description

A Rare Example Of A 16th Century English Oak And Iron Bound Boarded Cupboard.

Recently purchased privately from Somerset where it has been for the past 12 yrs ,prior to that it was used in a Somerset Solicitors as storage for redundant files.

Of boarded construction with large dovetails to the sides,the front with moulded edges the sides and back formed with unmoulded planks all with large rosehead nails and the corners with iron brackets,the door is held with three large hasp hinges and the interior has four elm shelves fixed into grooves in the sides.

In original condition with fine traces of grey and yellow paint ,a small infill where the lock was and it now sits on later small blocks.
