Description

A Rare Elizabethan Oak Enclosed Armchair Circa 1580

The heavy moulded top rail with domino scratch carved design over panelled back with a simple carved central lozenge with design scratch markings still visible,.

The solid straight arms over sold front legs with cut out stop chamfer's,the sides and back panelled all round.

In good solid condition,part of the seat and two stretchers replaced and 70% repegged and the back stiles are braced .

A similar style chair was sold at Sotheby's Oak and Country sale 5th July 2002 lot 134 for £5200.
