Description

A fine Early 18th century oak joined coffer

With unusual turned front feet

The plank lid over

a three panel front of plain design.

The sides with plain panel and moulded top rail.

The back with thick shamfered panels.

This chest has character and obviously has had a hard working life,the lid has cleated ends and one of the side panels has shrinkage and signs of old worm it is solid but a strip of tape is in the inside to mask the gap, the base is made up of old boards and the back legs have been tipped at the back to match the turned front legs.

In original condition with a good deep red dry finish, just showing the grain in a fine grey outline
