Description

An 18th century adjustable floorstanding rushlight from Clontibret,Co.Monaghan

The candle socket to top ,rectangular jaw and open rolled sockets are typical of this region.

Round section stem stands upon a tripod base with adjustable nip and socket.

Two candle sockets were possibly used for lace making,where extra illumination would be of an advantage,for close intricate work.
