Description

19th century primitive cobblers bench.

Of primitive construction in pine ,seat and tray with compartments,on staved ash legs.

Good colour and build up of patina, all those years of grubby hands.

Most cobblers of the period were itinerant, travelling the country with the tools of there trade.

The cobbler would have sat on the bench, his tools beside him,and worked the shoe on the last in front of him.

It would have had a small drawer ,but alas this is now missing.
