WWII Aircraft Recognition Poster, Sunderland I-II Aircraft Recognition Poster poster silhouette
WWII Aircraft Recognition Poster, Sunderland I & II (4 Pegasus). Identification/Recognition Poster from the 1940’s, printed by Fosh and Cross Ltd. Shows the silhouette of the plane from the front, underside and side. Good used condition for their age, but with some minor edge tears and creasing. These would have been used in training schools and also found in Mess huts on active RAF bases.

This poster shows the Sunderland I & II (4-Pegasus), a British flying boat patrol bomber, developed and constructed by Short Brothers for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft took its service name from the town (latterly, city) and port of Sunderland in North East England. The Sunderland was powered by four Bristol Pegasus XVIII radial engines and was outfitted with various detection equipment to aid combat operations. The Sunderland was one of the most powerful and widely used flying boats throughout the Second World War.
