WW1 era silver Marvin wrist watch, 1915.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, identified as by Marvin, which is working nicely.

The watch is a good size at 33mm diameter excluding the articulated lugs and winding crown, probably a later crown. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for
Glasgow (import mark), 1915 with a sponsor’s mark for James Weir.

James Weir acted as an assay agent for foreign manufacturers who did not have a British address from which to submit items to the assay office. Weir's company received packages of watch cases, stamped them with the registered sponsor's mark, sent them into the Glasgow Assay Office for assay and hallmarking and then returned them abroad.

The case is in lovely condition for such an early piece, just a small indentation to the back.

The lens is in good condition.

The telephone style dial has darkened with age but still easy to read the time. Original hands although originally they would have had infill.

The watch comes on a vintage leather strap with a silver buckle, hallmarked for London 1924.

The watch comes in an antique presentation box from a Buxton jeweller.
