William IV Silver Fusee Pocket Watch

1 of 6
William IV
Silver Fusee Pocket Watch
London 1833
Movement signed Green, Southsea. (The o looks like an h so I think the engraver made a mistake with the spelling).
Casemaker: William Hodsall, Casemaker, Bishopsgate, London.
Silvered Dial
Stop/Start switch at 4 so it can act like a stop watch but it does not reset like a more modern one.
Silvered dial in very good condition.
Plain silver case has no personal inscriptions.
Approximate dimensions: diameter 49.5mm, weight 115.3 grams.
Key wound and key set. Key supplied.
To wind the watch, press the button and lever open the back with your thumb nail and wind the key anti-clockwise.
To set the hands, open the front with your thumbnail and use the key at the centre where the hands are secured to move the hands to the time. The minute hand is slightly bent.
To view the movement, open the front and lever the movement open from the lever at 6. Remove the dust cover by sliding its fastener to the open position. Be careful to avoid touching the hands in this manoeuvre as they are easily bent/broken. Also, avoid doing this frequently to restrict dust ingress into movement.
The movement has been serviced and is working well.
The movement is very worn, which is not surprising due to its age so this watch is recommended only for occasional use.
Due to its age and worn condition I cannot guarantee the movement as I usually do but it has been serviced and is working well keeping time to within five minutes a day.
