A fine quality late Georgian stick barometer Watkins & Hill of London. A mahogany case of slim, elegant proportions with an arched pediment. The original set knob. Well engraved silvered register plates signed 'Watkins & Hill 5 Charing Cross, London'. A vernier slide adjuster to mark the rise & fall in air pressure. The original cistern cover. Watkins & Hill of London are noted makers and are documented and illustrated in the barometer books. This example dates to circa 1825. They were working from 1819-1857 and Francis Watkins is a noted maker.
