We have had a few of these and this one comes from a military background and survives in good order with a great tone and grain to the timber.

Being Waring & Gillow (labelled to the back including a crown with “Appointment to the King” and all the top 3 drawers also stamped) it’s a very nice chest. The wise choice of grain and tones is good, the design is classic, deep plinth, graduated drawers and a line of 3 drawers to the top flight for a pleasing change.

Workshop report – The piece sits firm with no wobbles. The original brass swan neck handles are in place – you could polish up if you desire. The oak lined drawers are good, one has a crack to the base but not affecting its use and we have waxed the runners so movement is right. We of course have sensible day to day marks to the top, sides and base but nothing ugly and to be honest about right for the age. Expect a very weighty piece for its size, solid oak to all parts and a very nice lived in look.

Perfect to place anywhere in the home and of lovely quality.

When purchasing from us we include delivery within mainland UK, excluding Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isles, in the purchase price and liaise with you to ensure delivery is as swift and as smooth as possible. Items are delivered by private courier, usually this is a one man service. If you require a two person delivery, please let us know. Smaller items are wrapped and packed (into recycled boxes where possible) and sent via a national courier service, tracking details will be provided once an item has been collected from us.

Terms and conditions

If you are not happy with an item you have 14 days to return it. This is providing that the item is returned, in the condition it left us, within 14 days. Please note that items must be wrapped and insured, with the return cost being covered by you. Once the item is back with us, having had a once over in the workshop, your refund will be issued.

On the rare occasion that an item is damaged in transit, please notify us immediately or within 48 hours and provide us with details and images so we can best remedy the situation.
