This vintage powder compact is suitable for use as a handbag mirror.
A pretty 1960s Stratton 'Rondette' powder compact with an attractive diamond cut motif. The gold tone lid has a finish that makes it looks textured. The whole compact is in good condition. There is a slight depression on the lid & this is reflected in the price. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives an excellent reflection as you will see on image two. This compact is fitted with a self-opening lid, a mechanism that was invented to protect ladies from breaking their nails when they opened the inner lid. Just tilt the mirror back & the inner lid opens. The powder well is protected by a waxed paper insert. The base is decorated with stars. Measures 2 3/4" & weighs 70 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
