This vintage powder compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
It is not often you find cased sets from the 1950s completely unused. The lid is decorated with immaculate mother of pearl & in relief is the Taj Mahal. Such a romantic gift! The whole set is protected with a layer of lacquer which means it will never need to be cleaned. The gilt border surrounding the mother of pearl decoration is engraved with scrolls. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The beveled mirror is excellent & gives a perfect reflection. The compact comes with the original white silk pouch & the velour edged sifter. The powder well & the accessories have an all gilt jeweller's / jeweler's finish. The base is smooth gold tone. This compact measures 7.3 cm . The lipstick holder is like new too & will hold lipstick tubes measuring 12mm. The lipstick holder still works perfectly. The lipstick holder measures 5.5 cm.
The original presentation case is in good condition. The case is decorated with a synthetic cover made to look like snake skin. The interior is lined with cream silk. The interior base is lined with crimson velvet.
