This is a vintage 4 volume book set - A History of British Furniture by Percy Macquoid. An English, bound antiques reference guide, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1925.
Authored by Percy Macquoid (1852 - 1925), a British illustrator, magazine contributor and stage designer, his subdivision of furniture into the individual timbers has become a standard other titles follow. The four volumes are: The Age of Satinwood (259 pages) The Age of Oak (243) The Age of Walnut (247) and The Age of Mahogany (271 pages).
Comprehensive study of British furniture, published across four volumes between 1925 and 1928
Displaying a desirable aged patina, each intact with minor age commensurate with gentle use
Each dressed in light burgundy cloth on board, with gilt titling
Illustrated title pages, finished with red and black ink
