Victorian Walnut & Brass Writing Slope
An attractive Victorian walnut and brass writing slope with working lock and key.
The box boasts campaign-style brass work to all corners and edges, with brass escutcheon and working lock and key. The box opens to reveal a gilt stamped black leather writing slope with pen holder and two further compartments. Green baize to base.
The box shows signs of wear commensurate with age with some marking to the walnut in areas. The lower section of the writing slope (when opened) has limited opening to the compartment beneath due to the tightness of the leather. One of the inkwell compartments has an unidentified wooden and metal contraption within it. Generally the whole presents very well with an attractive patina, smooth hinges and lock mechanism.
