Victorian Metropolitan Police Whistle c.1885
A very nice condition heavy gauge brass policeman’s whistle which can be dated to 1885-1888 from the 131 Barr Street address that is stamped on the side of the whistle. In 1888 the company moved to No. 13 Barr St.
This whistle is called ‘The Metropolitan’ and was made by the Birmingham manufacturers Joseph Hudson & Co. These whistles were also produced for fire brigade’s and other services.
Size 8cm x 1.5cm dia.
