This is a super Victorian burr walnut sewing box with decorative mounts to front and top, and fitted interior with contents, English circa 1870.

The engraved brass corner mounts to top and front and escutcheon are of the highest quality. The lid can be lifted using a four lobed ring pull handle attached to a centrally-located mount thus revealing a blue-satin lined interior with lift-out tray. The contents which include mother-of-pearl reels and winder, and fern-ware needle case appear to be untouched since the late 19th century.

Measurements: Width 22.5 cm, Depth 15 cm, Height 10 cm

Condition: The box is in fine antique condition with no loss of veneer. It lacks a key.
