William Clayton was an active artist between 1963 and 1991

Tromp l'oeil is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions
I personally knew Mr Clayton and he would often come into the local Antiques Centre where he would purchase items for his next commission. He was a very friendly person and also had a great passion for our local football club.
Nottingham City Museum and Galleries owns one painting by the artist.
Coventry City Herbert Art Gallery & Museum ones one painting by the artist.
