The Oris Pointer Date with Caliber 453 is a vintage, hand-wound Swiss wristwatch, produced in the 1950s, featuring a distinctive pointer date complication. This watch comes in a 31mm case size, with a 7-jewel mechanical movement and a subsidiary second by the 6. This watch just came back from the watchmaker and is in a very good condition
Introduced in 1938, the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date is the brand's signature pilot’s watch, featuring an oversized crown for gloved adjustment and a center hand indicating the date. It was pivotal in saving Oris during the 1970s/80s quartz crisis, maintaining production when many mechanical brands failed. It remains a staple, often using Sellita-based or proprietary in-house calibres.
• Key Features of the Vintage Oris Cal. 453:
• Movement: Manual winding, 7-jewel calibre 453.
• Complication: Pointer date function, indicated by a center hand pointing to dates on the dial edge.
• Era: 1950s.
• Size: 31mm (without crown)
