An original one sheet poster for Alfred Hitchcock 'Spellbound' starring Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman. Hitchcock's 1945 psychological mystery thriller film noir tells the story of the new head of a mental asylum who turns out to be rather different than what he claims to be.. An adaptation by Angus MacPhail and Ben Hecht of the 1927 novel The House of Dr. Edwardes by Hilary Saint George Saunders and John Palmer the films principal actors are supported by Michael Chekhov and Leo G. Carroll.
In common with all of Hitchcock's films he himself makes a cameo appearance and in this one he is seen exiting the Empire State Hotel carrying a violin case - this brief scene made much of in the films trailer. What the audience missed the majority of however was the dream sequence conceived by Salvador Dali as the film's producer (Selznick) ordered that be cut from around twenty minutes to just two.
This Argentinian one sheet, measuring 29 by 43 inches, is arguably one of the more attractive posters designed to promote the film. In very good condition with virtually no wear or damage at the mailing folds and minimal edge tears and 'fraying' - it will display well either framed or linen backed.
