Sir J Stewart Lockhart's Chinese Silver Handle Cane
An early 20th century Edwardian Chinese silver handle walking stick.
The walking stick was given as a gift to J. H. Stewart Lockhart CMG and has engraved on the handle "Presented to the right honourable J. H. Stewart Lockhart C.M.G. by Mr & Mrs Wei Guk, Hong Kong, 20th April 1902".
Sir James Haldane Stewart Lockhart KCMG (25 May 1858 – 26 February 1937) was a British colonial official in Hong Kong and China for more than 40 years. He also served as Commissioner of British Weihaiwei from 1902 to 1921.

The silver handle is beautifully decorated with two dragons, one either side, and Chinese characters in a raised profile along the top edge.
The polished wood shaft tapers to a heavy brass tip.
The walking stick is in good condition with some minor dents and marks to the silver. (Circa 1902)
