Silver Waltham Equity half hunter pocket watch
Antique silver Waltham Equity half hunter pocket watch.
The watch has a seven jewel Equity grade stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 21,794,545 which dates it back to around 1917, towards the end of the Equity’s production era. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Birmingham 1920 together with a case maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison. The Dennison Watch Case Company supplied most of the cases for Waltham UK.
There is a slight discrepancy between the dates of the movement and the case but this is a perfectly plausible considering it was produced at the end of WW1.
The case has engine turned detail to both the front and back, a slight hint of unevenness but overall good condition. The front cover has a small central lens surrounded by blue enamel filled Roman numerals.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.
Inside, there is an acrylic lens which has minor marking across it, not overly noticeable to the naked eye.
The signed dial looks good to the naked eye… there is a faint hairline starting between 11 and 12 but it is difficult to see. Original blued steel hands including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
