Silver Plate Cocktail Shaker, Plato, c.1920s/30s
This is a stylish small Art Deco Silver Plate Cocktail Shaker. The shaker is cylindrical with a round pedestal foot, a domed upper and a removable cap along with a short spout and cork stopper with silver plate cap. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The cocktail shaker is made in Birmingham by David Hollander & Sons as part of their PLATO range of silver plate and dates to around the 1920s/30s, the golden age of cocktails! David Hollander founded the firm in 1866 as a wholesaler for other companies products but by 1898 they were manufacturing their own silver plated items and introduced their PLATO range. From the 1950s onwards they primarily made stainless steel items and were bought out in 1970.
Condition is good with no plate loss and just some light surface scratching, which has to be expected after around 80 to 100 years of use. Both the cap and the cork stopper fit securely. Please make sure to viw all the photographs.
The cocktail shaker stands 14.5cm / 5.7ins high and is 7.2cm / 2.8ins in diameter. It weighs 234.8g / 8.3oz.
The underside of the base is marked REG. PLATO, E.P.N.S. Made In England.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
