No. 967 Silver pair cases, verge - Robert Hope, London, 1768
A good mid 18th century London verge, with a later outer case.
MOVEMENT Signed and numbered (2279) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, engraved and pierced balance cock, blued screws and silver regulator disc. Very good original condition, with the gilding still bright. Complete and running well.
DIAL White enamel dial, in excellent condition with just some surface scratches. Good original 18th century black steel beetle and poker hands.
INNER CASE Silver, hallmarked for London, 1768, maker TS (rubbed). Good condition though the stem has been reattached and there is slight compression around the band. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The high dome crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE Silver, hallmarked for London, 1834. Nicely engraved monogram on the back. Good condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The catch button has a little wear to the end.
This outer case is a perfect fit to the inner. Free worldwide postage.
