Excellent Silver I.W.C. Pocket Watch 1906
We ship Worldwide
Here you have an excellent high standard 0.800 silver pocket watch, Swiss made by I.W.C.
This elegant early 20th century IWC pocket watch features a classic white enamel dial with bold black Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock. The hands and clean layout reflect traditional Swiss craftsmanship and understated refinement. Housed in a finely engine-turned silver case numbered 397954, the reverse is adorned with a decorative vacant cartouche, ideal for personal engraving. The movement numbered 381644 (circa 1906–1907), displays high-quality finishing with gilt plates and precision engineering typical of IWC Schaffhausen. Complete with chain, this timepiece represents a fine example of Edwardian horology and enduring mechanical excellence.
Dial: The clear and easy to read white enamel dial has black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the six. The dial has nice gilt hands.
The watch has an original glass in good condition.
Movement: The gilt high grade seventeen jewels anchor lever movement with polished steel regulator bimetallic compensation balance has a club foot anchor lever escapement, is keeping good time however we cannot guarantee accuracy as it is an old watch. It is stamped under the dial and numbered: 381644.
Case: This pocket watch is lying in a beautiful 0.800 silver engine turned case. All the hinges are strong and closing tightly. The inner side of the back case is hallmarked for silver with the 0.800 silver stamp and numbered: 397954 and stamped IWC. The outer excellent engine turn back case of the pocket-watch has a beautiful free monogram engraving.
History IWC: All IWC-movements have a history and most of them also have a mark. Nowadays usually the "Probus Scafusia", in the past many others were used also. People who are familiar with the manufacturer know, that IWC Schaffhausen has records of the reference number, the caliber, the case material, the delivery date and the buyer, ever since 1882. The company name can be found (English italics) on all calibers by Jones (with movement numbers 1 to around 26,000), the Seeland-caliber (circa 26,000-61,000), caliber 28/29 a bascule pilier (100,000 to 120,000) as well as the early calibers 32, 33, 34, 35, 59 and 60 with very low movement numbers like 33, 86 616 or something like 620.
