Silver hunter pocket watch, Brockbank & Atkins
Antique silver full hunter pocket watch, Brockbank & Atkins.
The watch has an English stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Brockbank & Atkins, London (chronometer, watch and antique clock makers, and retailers). This particular movement was probably bought in from a Coventry watch maker rather than made in-house. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside all three covers for London 1907. There is a maker’s mark of JW, several London case makers of the period enter similar marks but we believe this one to be the London silversmith Joseph Walton.
The case is in good condition, a few minor marks and a slight hint of unevenness to the back but overall, very acceptable.
The winding crown pushes in to release the front cover.
Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition, light marking visible through a jeweller’s loupe.
The dial is signed Brockbank & Atkins, London. Original pin-set blued steel hands. The dial has two faint hairlines between 10 and 11 but not too noticeable at all.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
