Antique silver half hunter pocket watch / stopwatch, police interest.
The watch has a 3/4 plate stem-winding movement which is working nicely.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a 1920 retirement inscription from Staines Police.
The watch measures 53mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is silver and there are Continental silver marks inside the three covers. Overall the case is in good condition for a piece that is 113 years old, just surface marks from use and some unevenness to the back.
The front cover has a central lens surrounded by enamel filled numbers. The front cover is released by pressing the winding crown in and opening with your finger.
Inside there is a glass lens. There is some marking from an old lens label but not too obvious to the naked eye.
The dial is in very nice condition and has pin-set hands. There is also a stopwatch feature which is operated by sliding the button underneath the pin-set button. Please note that this is the model where stopping the stop watch also stops the movement.
